The biggest (and hardest) lesson of them all!

I’ve been coaching for over six years. Six years! Trust is the umbrella lesson for all the others. In my business and my life (your business, your life too)…Forward progress is all about trust.

Why is it all about trust?

  • I trust that my version of consistency (some days I have 100% effort to give and others I have 30%) is enough
  • I trust that the right people will show up in my life at the right time and I trust that I’ll say the right things to those people
  • I trust myself to know when I need to make a change to my surroundings
  • I trust that the tiny steps are adding up to success, even when I can’t quite see it yet
  • I trust that when I procrastinate, it’s okay

Trusting myself has not always been easy for me. I have plenty of memories to suggest that I shouldn’t trust myself. You might too.

Here’s the thing we all need to remember: Trusting ourselves doesn’t mean we don’t make mistakes. It means we know that we’ll pick ourselves back up and keep going. We can all trust ourselves to figure things out, to make good choices and to take the next step at the best time.

Trust is like a muscle that needs to be built. It doesn’t show up overnight. It comes with reflection and evidence. So if you are struggling to trust yourself, try these tips. And if you’re really struggling with this, let’s chat. I’m always here for you!

Two Tips…

  1. Pause and Reflect – Part of trusting yourself is noticing all the progress you have made. To notice, you need to pause. Close your eyes, take a breath and notice what’s going well in your life. Think about the last day, week or month and take note of what you’ve started, where progress has been made and what you’ve finished even though everything wasn’t perfect.
  2. Create an Evidence List – All that stuff you just thought of that is going well in your life? Write it down. Create a running list. Because there will be weeks when you can’t think of much and this list will serve as evidence that you can indeed trust yourself overall, if not in that moment.
